So I made my first trip to the Genius Bar at a Mac store, hoping to figure out why I could not get .Mac to work at all.
I stood around stupidly for a few minutes, expecting that someone might say something along the lines of “Hey stupid, do you need help?” but apparently I was wearing my invisibility cloak again, because several Apple Store Employees walked right by me.
Finally I interrupted a guy who was helping someone else and asked where I put my name in.
“Go to any of our computers and click on the Concierge icon”
Gee, thanks, I would have figured that out in a million years. How about a sign up over the Genius Bar: “For Help, Go to any Mac in the store and click on the Concierge Icon ”
He only had to tell about 5 other people in the time that I was there.
Anyway, I went over to a 17” Mac Book Pro and clicked on the aforementioned app. Up came a few prompts and then it asked me for my first and last name, and my cell phone number (optional).
I typed /first (tab) /last (tab) /cell (tab) and was amazed when I saw this appear on the screen:
/first /last /cell
Now that may look fine to you but I was expecting my first and last name and cell phone number to be inserted.
OOOooohhhhh….. wait, they don’t have TextExpander installed… and even if they did, they probably would have my shortcuts installed. However, it was a good reminder of how accustomed I have become to having TextExpander around.
