MOAB 3rd Party Response Time

February 1, 2007

In my quest to find out about the status of the 3rd party bugs reported as part of the MOAB, I emailed the Flip4Mac folks and Transmit folks in the middle of the night last night (about 1am).

I heard back from them within about 12 hours (considering that about 7 of those were considered “pre-work” hours by most normal people, this is an excellent response time). Transmit reported the bug had been fixed (which I had discovered on my own in the meantime) and tge Flip4Mac folks replied:

We’re working as quickly as possible to get this issue resolved ASAP. We should have a build out next week resolving this issue. We’ve been tracking this bug carefully, and can safely say there have been no reported attackes using the exploit yet. That may come as good news to you. Look for our next build, if you’re worried about it, you can uninstall Flip4Mac till the next build.

Note that the Flip4Mac bug was only revealed on January 27th which, as of this writing, is less than a week ago. Maybe if they had been given a little more notice…
