iPhoto is great. I love it, and it makes most of what I want to do with pictures much easier.
However, there is one dreaded prompt every iPhoto user hates to see: “For best performance, you should rebuild your thumbnail cache.”
What it should really say is: “For reasons we can’t really go into, you need to click OK here, and then take a nice long walk, come back, take a relaxing bubble bath, and maybe a nap, and then come back. Don’t you wish you have bought that 8-Core Mac Pro now?!”
This happened to me today, but what I didn’t realize was the picture which iPhoto was showing when it started:

You can see the anticipation clearly in their eyes.
