Vacation 2004 day 1 (Apple, Monterey)

Well technically day two, but all we did yesterday was arrive after a really long plane ride. Fortunately the plane from Atlanta to Oakland was not full so Ethan had his own seat. Ethan was amazing. He entertained himself for probably 15 minutes by playing with an empty 8oz water bottle by throwing it against the back of his seat. Also met Yvette, Vivek, Kush and Gage who were all as nice as could be. Gage is a total smile-fest.

Anyway, today we went to Apple. Sure, it’s just a bunch of buildings to some people. Met Daneen and had lunch in the Apple cafeteria. Resisted the urge to buy out the Apple Store. 12" Powerbook definitely too small, 17" definitely too big. 15" = just right.

After that we drove down to the Winchester Mystery House but the tour was long and not really conducive to a 2 year old. So we drove down to Monterey. California Route 17 is the twistyist highway I’ve ever driven.

Found a nice hotel with an ocean view (if you look very carefully :-) with a heated pool and a hot tub. Went to dinner at Bubba Gump’s, and I had the best shrimp I’ve had in ages, perhaps ever. We decided to try to get Ethan a little souvenir ball from the gift shop (a nerf-like football with Alabama’s colors, which are the same as Ohio State’s.) He loves to play with balls and it seemed an inexpensive thing to pick up for the various places we go throughout our vacation.

Tomorrow the park, or perhaps the aquarium. The waiter also suggested the 17 mile drive.

You guys have too much time on your hands to do all the things you've done.
Surprised you didn't get roped into doing a same sex marriage while you were in SF. Governor Terminator has an interesting perspective for you to consider.
