Blue LEDs

While ago I asked why red and green LEDs were used instead of, say, blue.

Turns out that blue is being used, and people don’t like it: Wired: Backlash Brews Over Blue LEDs

GraphicConverter Tip: Use SaveAs to Convert

I’m using GraphicConverter X 4.9 (because that’s the version that came with my Powerbook) and just noticed something cool.

If you open a file, say a BMP (because that’s what MSWindows uses for its screenshots) but want to save it as a PNG (because it’s just much better that way), all you have to do is do “Save As” and name the file with a .PNG at the end, and GraphicConverter is smart enough to change the file type to PNG instead of BMP.

Very cool, very Mac-ish.

(Otherwise I would have had to click on the dropdown and find PNG out of a list of... well, I don’t know exactly how many, but a lot, of options.)

Not just a river in Egypt

Ethan turns 3 on Saturday.

Ethan starts Preschool on September 8th.

Didn’t we just get him home from the hospital?

Dog cared for abandoned baby

Dog cared for abandoned baby.

Take that, you dog-hating cat nutcases!

And don’t bother emailing me or posting comments about all the evil that you think dogs do. I’ll just erase them anyway (and the comments have to be approved by me before they show up, so posting them at 3am from your cat pee smelling computer room while you’re cuddled up with Mr Winkles won’t be seen by anyone.

Actually, I like cats, grew up with cats, and would consider having cats again, but the completely irrationality that I receive from so-called “cat lovers” (cat-fanatic anti-dog loons, more precisely) just makes me want to play with them like a cat with a dead mouse.

Wizard of Id on Rhubarb Pie

[Wizard of Id from 5-14-2005]

Wizard of Id from 2005/05/14:

Woman: I left a rhubarb pie on the window-sill, and guess what?
Man: Someone stole it?
Woman: No, they left another one.

See I’m not the only one who doesn’t like rhubarb pie!
