Opera 8.02 with Bittorrent
July 7, 2005
UPDATE: Opera 8.10 Preview has replaced this version: http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/w810p2.html.
Opera released a “technology preview” of Opera 8.02 for Mac, FreeBSD, Linux and Windows today which included support for Bittorrent. (see my.opera.com announcement which includes download links.)

Does this mean I can download Opera via Bittorrent?
Yes. You will need the appropriate .torrent file:
What is the .torrent file for Opera 8.02 TP1 for Windows or Mac?
ow32enen802tp1.exe.torrent (Windows) or MacOpera 8.02 TP1
What is the .torrent file for Opera 8.02 TP1 for Linux or FreeBSD?
There are several. Your best bet is to go to my.opera.com announcement
Why does Opera say “Checking files” twice in the Transfers window before sharing a .torrent?
This is a known issue and hopefully will be fixed before the final release. It’s minor, so don’t worry about it.
How do I open a .torrent in Opera?
Use the File → Open menu (CTRL + O) and select the .torrent file. You may have to change the “Files of Type” to “All Files”. You will be prompted for a download directory (hopefully future versions of Opera will simply use the Download preference they have set for other downloads).
I have other questions, what do I do now?!?!
