I agree with most of your analysis and yet I continue to listen, although I have pared by Twit network podcasts down to the MBW and TWiT. I like Leo, but sometimes he's so frustrating. Rarely have I seen a major tech personality get every prediction so wrong, so consistently. And Anonymous was dead-on about the talking over bit. Oh and, AGH, every week they say "There's no Mac news" and then jabber on forever. Seems like hundreds of blogs and other web sites and podcasts would disagree that there's no Mac news.

Yet I continue to listen because of the occasional gem of a show--usually when it's just Andy, Merlin, and Leo. No offense to Scott and Alex, but five is sometimes too many panelists.

I also listen because the quality of so many other Mac podcasts is uneven. I was just listening to Chuck Joiner's MacJury podcast on the Let's Rock event and, oy, out of the cast of thousands on that episode they couldn't get basic facts about the announcements right.

And so I continue to listen, waiting for something better to come along. (By the by, the Macworld podcast is consistently good and the best thing about this week's MBW was Chris Breen. Just saying.)

I enjoyed your analysis of MBW. I'm also frustrated by the show. It's so frustrating when they talk over each other, and Leo is the worst offender. I notice it in all his podcasts and his radio show. The key is, when he thinks he knows what someone is going to say, he interrupts. That obliterates the end of the other person's sentence and the beginning of his, sometimes. If you didn't know where the person was headed with their train of thought, you're lost and Leo's response means nothing. He's also wrong many times about what he THOUGHT the other person was going to say. Then HE'S confused about what the subject is.

I also agree that there should be much less non-Mac-related talk. It's extreme to say NO non-Mac talk, because, for example, Merlin is good with productivity tips and eviscerating corporate douches. I started listening to the show long before I got a Mac in 2006 so I could get used to what they are like. That's how I became a Merlin fan. (Aside: I was more than a little freaked out when he followed me on Twitter.) One thing I like about him is that his speech construction is pretty complex. The way he says something ultimately conveys more than the sum of the parts of WHAT he said. That is totally blown away by all the interrupting. He's also too polite to keep talking and interrupt the interrupter. Super-frustrating.

I also like what Alex has to say on the show, because I'm very much into the technical aspects of audio & video compression and editing. The interrupters usually obliterate what he has to say also. He always stops for the interrupter because he has a passive personality. Not to say he's not polite, but I think that's what's going on with him.

I understand why people intensely dislike Scott, but I wouldn't mind him at all if the useful people on the show got to talk.

Just wanted to do my own little venting, as I have no one else who would care.
