You can’t spell respect without SEC

January 9, 2007

The Florida Gators were overlooked all season long.

If USC hadn’t lost, they never would have gotten a chance.

OSU rolled over everyone. Did that mean they had no real competition or were just that good?

Everyone talked about the lack of “style points” for UF’s wins.

Can we bury “style points” now?

Who cares about style?

Here’s a suggestion for the BCS: How about the national championship game in the future is the #1 team in the SEC vs whoever is considered #1 in the rest of the nation? I wonder how many times the SEC team would win?

Interesting stat: “Ohio State is 0-8 against Southeastern Conference teams in bowl games.” (Source).

Remember when Jim Tressel declined to vote as to who should be #2: either Michigan or UF? Everyone assumed that he would have voted for Florida so he wouldn’t have to play Michigan again after their close loss. I wonder if he was aware of that stat and didn’t want to play Florida.
